Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC), the only business chamber dedicated to promote startups and entrepreneurship in India, organised a boot camp for women startups at Chandigarh, India, on 8th March as a precursor to the Startup Weekend later this month.

As the world celebrates International Women’s Day around this year’s theme of “Make It Happen”, Startup Accelerator Chamber of Commerce (SACC) organized a boot camp to introduce the concepts of entrepreneurship to women participants.

SACC’s focus had been to encourage entrepreneurship amongst all sections of society and especially the women, who truly “Make it Happen” and excel as entrepreneurs, said Manipal Dhariwal, President of SACC.

SACC, which is on its mission to make this region a startup capital of the country, tied up earlier last year with the US based UP Global to empower community leaders and people with idea to help them launch successful ventures by learning how to pitch ideas, form teams, and start companies.

The bootcamp provides experiential learning for the participants to understand the process of starting companies, finding cofounder, putting together the team, and pitching to the experienced entrepreneurs.

The chief guest on the occasion was Sofi Zahoor, Senior Director India Operations & HR for Quark Inc, elaborated on changing business paradigms from ‘Survival of the Fittest’ to that of the ‘fastest’,  and “look before you leap” has lost its validity to “look as you leap”.

Seven startups of the region which emerged in last couple of months shared their journey with the participants, which included, Buddies BakerydApp Studio,  EduRev, Florito, Natalwise, Shanti Bhanot yoga, and White Sparrow. intends to sell used branded cloth to college youngsters, while Saurabh and Simranjit, engineers-turned bakers duo showcased their success story of Buddies Bakery, besides wide range of new starts ups by women which included Sneha Bajwa as interior designer, Shanti Bhanot for yoga and wellness, Florito for handmade organic soaps, while Natalwise presented innovative learning for children.

The boot camp provided orientation to the prospective women startups in the region who intend to participate in the three-days all-women Startup Weekend to be organized on 20-22 March at Chandigarh, India.

SACC is creating a strong community of startups and entrepreneurs, developing a robust ecosystem, and has already setup a co-working space for young startups to incubate their ideas in “Startup in a Box” facility in Mohali, besides networking them with the investors.
